hello

Fifty years ago, in 1965, this college was approved by the voters of this community. In these last 50 years, we have seen over 17,000 students graduate from Sauk with a degree or certificate.

Some of these graduates transferred to 4-year universities and earned their bachelor’s degree. Others completed their associate’s degree or certificate and immediately entered the workforce as nurses, police officers, welders, and many career professionals that support our local community and economy. That is the beauty of Sauk…we provide you the educational opportunities that best suit your life and your goals.

Sauk continues to provide quality affordable education. With a focus on teaching excellence, contemporary academic programs, and state-of-the-art facilities Sauk is still one of the best, most affordable places to earn a college degree. A government study projects the creation of 46.8 million new jobs nationwide by the end of 2018, with 63% of those jobs requiring a post-secondary degree or certificate. This translates into roughly 30 million new jobs for those with a post-secondary education. Sauk is a great place for you to get started on that new career.

While we are extremely proud of our transfer students, this particular issue of Career Focus is mostly dedicated to Sauk’s career programs. Whether you need some retraining, interested in a new, exciting career or just want to explore your options, Sauk is the place for you. So, browse through this issue and read about our career degrees and certificates and call or email us if you have any questions.

Also, we have a number of 50th anniversary celebratory events scheduled for this next year. Check out our scheduled events near the end of this magazine. I hope you find time to visit Sauk, take a class or two, enjoy our beautiful campus and participate in our festivities. I’ll see you at Sauk!
